Escarpment Law Group is dedicated primarily to the practice of Real Estate Law. We have eight offices conveniently located throughout Oakville, Burlington, Stoney Creek, Hamilton (Mountain & Downtown), St. Catharines, Welland and Waterdown.
While we do offer a full array of legal services required by clients including Estate Planning (such as Wills, Powers of Attorney and Estate Administration), Business Planning (such as incorporations and business acquisitions), the main focus of our practice is with respect to Real Estate Transactions — both residential and commercial. This includes purchases, sales and mortgage refinances.
Aldo Berlingieri, LL.B., partner, was called to the Ontario Bar in 1983. He practiced in the area of civil litigation before restricting his practice to Real Estate, Corporate and Commercial Law, and Wills & Estates. Mr. Berlingieri also handles Business/Asset Acquisitions and Sales for both small and large companies. He works out of the Downtown Hamilton location.
Alanna C. Stephen, B.A., LL.B., J.D., partner, holds both Canadian and American law degrees and was called to the Ontario Bar in 2005. Ms. Stephen practiced for 6 years in the area of Civil Litigation at a well-known Hamilton firm before making the move to Real Estate Law. Ms. Stephen also manages our various offices and travels between them although she primarily meets with clients at our Burlington and Oakville locations.
Amey Hanna, B.A. (Hons), J.D., partner, is a law graduate of Western Michigan University and was called to the Ontario Bar in 2015. Ms. Hanna has chosen to practice exclusively in the areas of Real Estate and Wills & Estates. She began working with Escarpment Law Group right after her Call and became a partner in 2024. Ms. Hanna primarily works out of the Hamilton Mountain location.
Alyssa Di Lallo, B.A., LL.B., associate,
joined Escarpment Law Group as an associate lawyer in 2021. Ms. Di Lallo obtained her Bachelor of Laws with Honours from the University of Exeter. She has appeared before the Ontario Court of Justice, Superior Court of Justice, and Small Claims Court. Ms. Di Lallo splits her time between our St. Catharines and Welland locations and her practice focuses on Real Estate, Wills & Estates, and Corporate Law.
Brian J. Bennett, B.A. (Hons) J.D., associate, joined Escarpment Law Group in 2022. Mr. Bennett graduated from Queen’s Law School with his J.D. in 2019. He practices Real Estate, Wills & Estates, and Corporate Law mainly out of our Downtown Hamilton location.
Kaya Zagorda, B.A. (Hons) J.D., associate, is a law graduate of Queen’s University Law School, and was called to the Bar in 2019. Ms. Zagorda joined Escarpment Law Group in 2023 and practices in the areas of Real Estate and Wills & Estates. Ms. Zagorda works primarily out of our Stoney Creek and Waterdown offices.
Douglas J. DePaulo, LL.B., (retired), was born and raised in Hamilton and was called to the Ontario Bar in 1981. His areas of practice were Real Estate Transactions, Financing, Wills & Estates and Corporate and Commercial Law. Mr. DePaulo retired in the Fall of 2023 after 42 very successful years of practice and serving the Hamilton community.
